DataDetective has been included at M-DO-IT: the national demonstration center of the police for proven innovations. There is a fully equipped analysis environment to be seen, including dashboards.

Feb. 2010 : Sentient provides analytics against youth issues for the government

By assignment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sentient will develop an instrument in 2010 for the analysis of youth issues, together with RCM Advies and Experian. With this instrument local authorities and local safety partners in a neighborhood can quickly and easily gain insight to better adapt their interventions and communication to match the various situations. The interaction between behavior, neighborhood and family will be analyzed, using methods from marketing intelligence.

Oct. 2009 : Amsterdam police force receives award for business intelligence with DataDetective

The Amsterdam police force has been awarded the Excellent Performance Award for their business intelligence in which DataDetective plays an important role. The award took place during the BI Awards 2009 event. These jury prices are awarded each year to organizations that excel in business intelligence. More Information about the BI architecture of the Amsterdam Police can be found in this article from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. After the recent international price for DataDetective for policing, this is another welcome recognition of the work of Sentient and its customers.

Jul. 2009 : DataDetective awarded third price in global competition for best application

During the annual international data mining conference KDD2009 in Paris, the police data mining application of DataDetective has been awarded third price in the competition for best data mining application. Second place was for the US tax authority and first place for Siemens medical imaging. The article by Rob van der Veer and experts from the Amsterdam police can be found here.

Jun. 2009 : The Hague police selects Sentient to help explain criminal trends

Sentient, in a joint project with the Dutch Police Academy, has been hired by police force The Hague to perform extensive data mining research using Datadetective. The goal is to explain the increase of crime in some areas and the decrease in others. This research will look at socio-demography, unemployment, public facilities, lifestyle, police activities and the interaction between these elements.

Jun. 2009 : Large attendance at Dutch police data mining event

The Dutch police data mining afternoon, organized by Sentient on June 9th, has been a great success. More than 100 participants from every police region in the Netherlands came to Utrecht to learn about the latest developments in crime analysis and exchanged their knowledge and experience. Five experts were invited to speak about different topics in police data mining, including the Dutch National Intelligence Model, DataDetective, the use of civilian profiles for crime analysis and lessons learned from previous DataDetective projects.
